We are going to go to Old Sabine Bottom WMA on Saturday, October 19th at 8 AM. There is little walking and is mostly a car caravan where we get out and walk a bit at the good spots. It is suitable for those with limited mobility.
We will meet at 21179 County Rd 4106, Lindale, TX 75771. That address is the Parks & Wildlife office.
Here is the link to the site. https://goo.gl/maps/g9ZyPeAsCshm2Jgh8
When you get there, go past the TP&W buildings to the entrance gate. We will meet at the gate at 8 AM. If you arrive late, just come down the main road. Our first stops will all be on that road.
This is a WMA and Limited Public Use Permit is required for this area ($12). You can get one anywhere they sell Fishing and Hunting Licenses or order it online. To order it online, go to:
https://www.txfgsales.com/CustomerSearch.aspx
When you get to the type of license, choose Limited Public Use Permit – that is all you need. You can print out your permit.
This trip is open to everyone, not just Audubon Society members.
There are no facilities (well, there is sometimes a rather interesting porta-potty but . . . ). Bring water (for sure – it will be rather warm), insect repellent, and anything you might need for a 3 hour (or so) adventure.
This trip is fine for beginners and everyone is welcome. We all learn so much on these outings.
