We are going to the Neches River National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, March 23rd. We will meet there at 8 AM, just inside the gate off Hwy 79. Come down the road until you can turn left. You will see the parking area and restrooms.
NON-MEMBERS & VISITORS ARE WELCOME! We will be joined on this trip by the Piney Woods Audubon group.
DIRECTIONS: We will meet at the parking area just after you enter the gate from Hwy 79 just SW of Jacksonville. This is about 47 minutes from Tyler.
Here is a link for Google Maps to show its location: https://goo.gl/maps/m5Ek44aaBMG4Yq926
We will do some walking in a few different places as we explore.
No long-distance hikes are planned.
The weather should be mild, but you might want a light jacket for the morning, which may be cool.
You should also bring some water, a snack, your binoculars, a camera if you are so inclined, and it would be a good idea to have some insect repellant. (I always have some in my truck if you forget).
This should be a fun trip. The migrants are just starting to arrive.
If you get lost, run late, and need to know where we are, text or call me at 832.920.4117. Michael Mathews.
