Have you ever considered the impact extreme weather events might have on bird populations? April’s meeting will delve into this question during the presentation, “Assessment of Bird Communities Using eBird Data in Texas Following a Significant Weather Event.” This study was conducted by Zoe Williams, a UT Tyler graduate student (J. Coleman and M. Greenwold Thesis Co-Advisors). Zoe collected eBird data to assess extreme weather events and their impact on avian populations by analyzing species richness, abundance, and composition before and after the weather event. The findings provide insights into how extreme weather influences bird distributions and community dynamics. Zoe’s presentation is sure to prove interesting and enlightening!
Officers will be elected during the meeting, plus the president will share an international birding trip opportunity. Plans for the TAS Big Sit at Neches River National Wildlife Refuge on May 3rd will also be discussed. Come enjoy camaraderie with like-minded souls, and learn more about our feathered friends!
Public is invited.
